Racing

The main role of the Department in relation to the racing industry is facilitating and providing executive support to the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia, which is responsible for administering the Betting Control Act 1954, the Racing and Wagering Western Australia Act 2003 and the Racing and Wagering Western Australia Tax Act 2003.

The Department's responsibilities in relation to the racing industry include auditing TAB agencies and processing the applications for Bookmakers; Bookmakers' staff; telephone betting operations; designated sporting events; internet betting operations and licence applications for key RWWA employees on behalf of the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia.
